Catwalk Classic
cci-catwalkEach year, Cultural Communications’ Afterschool Boot Camps culminate into what has become a signature event for students and families throughout the D.C. metropolitan area, the Catwalk Classic! At first glance, the event is a fashion show battle between 12 high schools. However, for the young people producing and managing the show, the event is an opportunity for them to bring to the stage all of the communication and media arts training they have acquired via afterschool boot camp activities.

The Catwalk Classic encompasses all aspects of the communication, event production, and media arts fields through mediums that attract and engage young people – fashion, music, and the media. With more than 300 student participants and 3,500 event attendees, the Catwalk Classic features student modeling teams on the runway and student producers, directors, media specialists, and event managers behind the scenes.

View Catwalk Classic footage and save the date for our 2015 Catwalk Classic Saturday, May 2 at Show Place Arena Upper Marlboro MD at 6pm. Purchase tickets at Ticket Master or the Show Place Arena Box office.

School-based Programs

cci-school-programsAs a part of the school year and during extended day/extended year activities, Cultural Communications offers afterschool boot camps to a core group of public and charter schools throughout the D.C. area. The curriculum focuses on academic acceleration and extracurricular enrichment activities that engage and inspire youth ages 12-18. Volunteers from community-based organizations and administrators and teachers from public and charter schools provide unique programming options to channel student interest in fashion and music into career-oriented pursuits in the communication, event production, and media arts fields. We invite you to schedule an opportunity to be a part of our afterschool boot camps by contacting our Director, Eric Smith, at esmith@culturalcommunications.org
